LI: To be able to engage an audience with powerful language.

Tasks:
-My students are to complete a 100 word challenge and then turn it into a voki. Your topic is …my heart was beating incredibly fast… You must use these words somewhere in your writing. You may like to use a past experience or base the piece of writing on an image or video we’ve seen like the tsunami or running with the bulls.

Here is an example of one of our 100 word challenges. Look at the powerful language that has been written…

Charlie and the river
The scared, terrified and shocked golden retriever was horrifyingly freezing in the cold river, while the trees were swaying in the strong breeze. It was extremely windy and the dog was shaking with fear. He was getting pushed away in the rough dirty water. He was too excited and overwhelmed that he went for a swim to the other side of the powerful water. He was getting into the water and he couldn’t go through because he thought the river was raging and dangerous. He struggled to get through to the rapids. He slowly dragged himself across to the other side.

-The Chinese students will use the template to create a short piece of writing about themselves and Australia before turning it into a voki.

In Australia I have enjoyed eating…
In Australia I have liked…
