The 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami that formed in the Indian Ocean, was a wave of terrible destruction. The powerful wave struck popular holiday destinations, including Thailand, where thousands of Australians go each year.

There was no warning prior to the wave and residents and tourists were surprised as the giant wave came tumbling towards them a great speed. The tsunami resulted over 200,000 deaths and destroyed countless buildings and villages, which left many people homeless.
