Week 1 Blogging Challenge

Our class and blog have been entered into a blog challenge. This is the first week and below are the challenges that we must complete before Thursday.

Activity 1. You might like to write a poem about yourself, create or update an about me/us page or post. Remember to be internet safe and not add any personal information.

Creating your about me page in steps for Edublogs users

  1. Login to your blog.
  2. Go to Pages > All Pages
  3. Hover your mouse over the Same Page title and click Edit.
  4. Change the title to About Me or something similar.
  5. Remember to also edit the permalink to About then OK.
  6. If you only have one row of icons above the box, click on the last icon called the kitchen sink. This opens a second row which allows you to change font colours and to insert from a word document.
  7. In the box, write a bit about yourself remembering to be internet safe. Make sure you have checked out the pages from other students mentioned – many of them have been blogging for a while.
  8. When you have finished click the big blue button on the right side of your screen – probably says Update.

Here are some examples to check out, but be creative.

Activity 2.  Introduce your class, school, family using another page or post. Maybe go outside to take photos of your school or neighbourhood to include in a slideshow on the about me/us page.

Activity 3. You are going to start getting visitors to your blog. Do you have some questions you would like them to answer? Write a post asking questions for your visitors to answer about themselves.

Hi, my name is Jay. I go to Liddiard Road primary school, located in Liddiard Road, as the name says. Liddiard road is a primary school that’s in Traralgon. This school has about 250 students. The senior unit carries around 80 people, 80 in middle unit, and roughly another 80 in Junior unit. Our school has three playgrounds. One half of this school is covered with the oval. Mostly every morning, 5/6 and sometimes 3/4 units do a run around the whole school, to wake us up. The I.C.T teacher is Mrs. Crowe, P.E. teacher is Mr. Anton, the art teacher is Mrs. Hughes and the Auslan teacher is Mrs. North, as well as Jaiman.

Our Senior unit has 80 people. It is located in a separate building from others. When you enter the Senior unit, there is a walkway, and then there’s two glass doors to walk in our unit. The teachers in our unit are Mrs. Joyce, Mr. Andrew (my teacher), Mrs. Smythe, Mrs Bradbury and Mrs. Cook. Our senior unit has a camp going on the second week of term 4, and we’re travelling to Melbourne. At times, we have unit assembly’s, when we talk about what we can improve. Sometimes on Friday’s, at the last hour, we have a unit assembly, and then a quiz to go with it, so we can enjoy the rest of the day. Also on Friday’s, we have inquiry day, where we work with our partners to do fun projects. Our topic for this term on inquiry is natural disasters. Mrs. Cook is teaching underground, Mrs. Bradbury is teaching Eco-systems, Mr. Andrew is teaching man made disasters, Mrs. Smythe is teaching oceans, and Mrs. Joyce is teaching weather.

My grade teacher is Mr. Andrews. We have a blog comment ladder. The blog comment ladder indicates what our score is commenting from commenting. If you do a really fantastic comment, he either scores you a 2,3,4 or 5. So far I’m on third position. We also had a homework where we had to do a persuasive piece on whether we should have a class party or not. If they’re all good, then well have one next week, but if they’re not up to standard, then we won’t have one. Lately we’ve been having 100 word challenges, where we have a limit of 100 words, with good description.

What country do you come from?
What do you find interesting about this blog?
What don’t you like about this blog?
How did you discover this blog?
Do you find this school interesting?
