  1. 1. Which poster do you like better and why?
My opinion is that the bottom poster or advertisement is better. I think this one is better because it shows you a lot more about the movie than the other one. I also think this one is better because it shows you who the two main characters, and what they are most likely to be doing throughout the movie.

    2. If you could change this poster by adding and/or taking away something, what would you add or take away? Why? (Choose one)
I think you could change the top advertisement by adding in the mentor/Jackie Chan. I think this would make it better because Jayden isn’t the whole main character for the film.

    3. Were they effective in ‘selling’ the film through the poster? Why?
I think they were because the movie is incredibly popular and I would expect all Jayden Smith fans would have this movie. Same goes for Jackie Chan.

  2. The Karate Kid 🙅

    1. Which poster do you like better and why? I like the top one better because it is really basic and I think that’s better than putting a lot of things on the poster I think Jackie Chan and Jayden smith are good actors but on the second one it shows peoples faces and that scares me, we were all thinking it, I’m the only one to admit it. Oh and the poster looks violent and I like violent movies.

    2. If you could change this poster by adding and/or taking away something, what would you add or take away? Why? (Choose one)
Poster 1; I would add something like A Harald Zwart Film because he was the director and take out Jayden’s face because the rest of the painting you can’t see his face then bang it’s a face with no body.
Poster 2; I might change the picture on the second poster because it looks really scary and maybe some of the produces at the bottom and the really serious Jackie and Jayden faces.

    3. Were they effective in ‘selling’ the film through the poster? Why?
Yes because I think everybody in the 5/6 unit knows the karate kid movie and you don’t watch a movie to know what it is like first you look at the trailer poster so the teachers must have liked the movie so they show it to us so we all know the movie now which means it must have been effective.

  3. ADVERTISING THE KARATE KID!

    1. Which poster do you like better and why?
I think I like the first poster because it shows that the movie has a lot of action during the movie. I think the first poster is better an the other one because it shows a man doing some Karate moves which also shows the movie is about Karate. In the first poster the background it shows some fire which in my mind creates an image which shows me there is some anger in the movie.

    2. If you could change this poster by adding and/or taking away something, what would you add or take away? Why?
I would add some more of the characters to create a better picture in the viewers mind so they can get a better understanding of who and what the movie is about. I would take away the message which is “A challenge he never imagined and a teacher he never expected.” Because it’s just a waste of space. I would also take away the DVD Video sign because it doesn’t seem to fit in.

    3. Were they effective in ‘selling’ the film through the poster? Why?
I think they were effective in selling the movie through the poster because the poster shows a little bit about the movie. The little part it shows is there will be a lot of Karate action throughout the movie. They were effective in selling the movie through posters because it shows who the main characters are in the top right hand corner.

  4. 1. Which poster do you like better and why?

I like the second poster because it has the two main characters and what the movie is about it also has a little prompt that says”A challenge he never imagined and a teacher he never expected”.

    2. If you could change this poster by adding and/or taking away something, what would you add or take away? Why?

With the first poster I would make the kid look less angry because it looks like he just wants to take every thing out on other people instead of himself so he is full of anger. I would also add a little bit of darkness in the corners to make them look burnt.

    3. Were they effective in ‘selling’ the film through the poster? Why?

I think they were because Jackie Chan has a lot of fans and they would’ve wanted to watch this movie and to have the poster in their room then you have younger kids like us that want to watch so we ask to buy it to stick the film poster up in their room.

  5. 🙅🙅 Below are two different advertising posters for the Karate Kid. Have a look at both posters and discuss the following questions:
    1. Which poster do you like better and why?
I like the one on the top because it looks like he is very angry and he wants payback or something. The background had red on it to show his anger maybe.
    2. If you could change this poster by adding and/ or taking away something, what would you add or take away? Why? (Choose one)
I would make the picture of the boy to be clear because you can barley see his face and the rest is just black.
    3. Were they effective in ‘selling’ the film through the poster? Why?
I think it would be effective because most people like actions films.

  6. I like the top one the best because I like the way Jaden Smith is posing cause it shows that he is actually doing karate. Whereas the bottom one he is just sitting in front of Jackie Chan who is obviously his trainer and doing basically nothing. Also there is this weird writing down in the bottom left hand corner. The writing is also a lot clearer on the top one.

If I were to change the top poster I would put a picture of Jackie in the background doing karate as well. If I were to change the bottom one I would take out the weird grey writing in the bottom left hand corner. Also I would take out the picture of the Asian house and centre the people.

I think they were very effective in selling the film because millions of people around the world saw it and most of them liked it. Also I think that the fact that they are saying that Jackie Chan is in the movie would of persuaded people a little bit because Jackie is a really good actor and most people like his films.🎥🆒

  7. Below are two different advertising posters for the Karate Kid. Have a look at both posters and discuss the following questions.

    1. Which poster do you like better and why? I think the second one is better because it hooks people in because of the picture on the poster. It looks like revenge because of the red and yellow that covers them the two people.

    2. If you could change this poster by adding and/or taking away something, what would you add or take away? Why? (Choose one) I would change the one on the top because of the way it looks. The kid in the poster looks to angry and it might mean the movie could be violent.

    3. Were they effective in ‘selling’ the film through the poster? Why? I think they were effective in selling because of the cover of the DVD.

  8. Below are two different advertising posters for the Karate Kid. Have a look at both posters and discuss the following questions:

    1. Which poster do you like better and why?

I like the Jayden smith one because he looks like he knows more karate more then the Jackie Chan because he looks like that’s his special move.

    2. If you could change this poster by adding and/or taking away something, what would you add or take away? Why? (Choose one)
I would add to put Jayden Smith face in it instead of the shadow of him because if people saw the front cover they wouldn’t who Jayden Smith unless they see the movie. And I think that thy should put a brighter colour in it because red looks more serious.

    3. Were they effective in ‘selling’ the film through the poster? Why?
Yes because people like action movies and kids like people fighting in the movie and they might be interest because the front cover the karate kid.

  9. 1. Which poster do you like better and why?
I like the first poster because it looks like full on action and if I was walking past that sign I would want to watch it but if it was the second one it looks like it’s not all action it looks like there’s a sad bit in it.

    2. If you could change this poster by adding and/or taking away something, what would you add or take away? Why? (Choose one)
first poster, I would change the person inside the karate kid because it makes it look wired and not all action.

    3. Were they effective in ‘selling’ the film through the poster? Why?
I think they were because everyone likes karate and with a front cover like that it would be really easy to get other people to watch the movie. I think this because people like action and this looks like it has action in the movie.

  10. I think the second one is the best because it shows a boy doing a ‘move’ with his mentor. I also chose this one because the other one did not have any writing explaining who the makers and the cast were on it, so I picked the first one.

If I could change the poster, I think it would possibly be to take a little bit of the writing out to see more of what the movie is actually is about. If they did this, it might make people want to watch it more by knowing more about it.

I think they were effective in ‘selling’ the film through the posters because on the first one it gives you detail of someone doing Karate, but on the second one, it tells you who the cast and makers are.

  11. 1. Which poster do you like better and why?
I like the second poster because the poster has the mean character showing them on the poster and it shows a Chinese building and it’s describing where the setting is set. I like this poster because Jackie Chan is teaching him how to do karate.

    2. If you could change this poster by adding and/or taking away something, what would you add or take away? Why? (Choose one)
I think that the first poster needs to be change by having another building or som thing that shows what he is doing. Like if you heard of the movie and you’ve seen the first poster, they don’t know where the setting is.

    3. Were they effective in ‘selling’ the film through the poster? Why?
Yes because it shows effects of the character and the setting, they show what’s it is a our and and they shows the characters.
