I was born at Latrobe Regional Hospital in Traralgon. When I was at the age of 3 my mum sent Gareth and I to Cameron Street Kindergarten. That’s where I met Millie Read and Brielle Anderson. At the age of 5, I started primary school here at Liddiard road. At
first I was scared and didn’t want mum to leave because the other kids were a lot taller than me. It was the best thing that ever happened. Millie, Brielle and I have been best friends for 8 years and will continue our friendship until we are old and have grey hair. I live with my mum Coralie Joy Waack- Hawkins, my father Robert John Hawkins, my twin brother Gareth John Waack- Hawkins and me. My lovely teacher is Mark Andrew and the two best helpers is beautiful Jess Hoskin and the ancient Rod Connolly we call him our class dictionary. Next year I will be in year 6. This year on Orientation Day I will read out my beautiful speech for School Captain for 2015 and show this year’s, year 4’s who will be in year 5 next year (2015) what the 5/6 expectations are and what type of roll model I can be.

My hobbies are basketball and netball and a little bit of dance fitness. I love playing basketball because Dani Pearce and Desirae Globas play basketball for Australia and they inspired me to play. I love playing netball because Laura Geitz and Bianca Chatfield both inspired me to play. I play domestic basketball for Rams CoolCats in under 14’s division 1. I also play squad basketball for Traralgon T-Birds in under 14’s division 1 and 2. We travel all over Victoria for squad basketball to verse local and metro teams. The longest trip was to Wodonga up near the border. It’s in between Victoria and New South Wales. The most exciting part about playing in Wodonga was before and after the grand final we swam in the Murray River.

My favourite highlight for playing in Wodonga was we WON THE GRAND FINAL!!! The worst thing which happened to me was when I was playing my first game in the Moe tournament on the 14th of November I dislocated my left kneecap in the first 5 minutes of the game. Here’s how it happened. I jumped up for the re-bound and tripped over another girl’s leg. She was on the other team. I landed on the firm ground. She landed on me from behind my knee and drove the kneecap into the floorboards which forced my kneecap to pop out causing it to be dislocated.

My favourite foods are Chicken Carbonara and salads. I love chicken carbonara because it’s one of the healthiest foods. I absolutely love salads because I love to eat Tomatoes, Carrots, Lettuce, Beetroot and Pumpkin. My favourite Australian netball players are Bianca Lee Chatfield and Laura Geitz. My favourite experience was when I got to meet Desirae Globaz at the 2014 Future Stars Tournament in Traralgon at Latrobe basketball stadium. My favourite animals are German Shepherd dogs, kittens and horses. I love German Shepherds because they have beautiful coloured fur. Their fur colours are thick caramel coloured patches and the rest of their colour is black. They are so easy to tame. I love kittens because their tiny little faces are just so adorable and just by looking at them, is just enough to make anyone cry. I love horses because I think they’re the most charming animals on earth.

When I am older I would love to play professional basketball for Australia but if that doesn’t work then I would like to play netball for the Australian Diamonds.

    for the Australian Diamonds.

  6. Tristan Platt

I’m Tristan Aaron Platt, and I’m 12 years old and was born on the 18th/10th/2002. I believe that I am a brilliant and compassionate student who attends school at Liddiard Road Primary School, Traralgon.

I was born at Latrobe Regional Hospital in Traralgon. When I was first born I lived in Traralgon, and I still do to this very day. My dad’s name is Aaron Wayne Platt and my mum’s name is Angie Wright. My dad is 34 years old and my mum is 32 years old. Although my mum and dad are split, they still live a good life with their new partners. At my mums I have two dogs and one cat, and at my dad’s I have one dog and two rainbow lorikeets. At my mums house my newest dog, Boofel, is incredibly good at whinging. When we put Boofel outside, he won’t stop whinging until we let him back in. At my dad’s house, my bird, Birdo, is very good at repeating swear words. My uncle has taught the bird how to swear.

When I was a toddler my mum and dad took me to the RSL with them, where they were having a party. After the party was finished I ran towards the glass door, thinking it was opened, and crashed head first into it. The next day I had an extremely painful egg, the size of Mount Everest, on my poor little forehead.

When I was about 7 years old, I was at home swinging on the close line along with my brother and two friends. The close line snapped and a bit of metal, which my hand was on, clenched on to my middle finger and pointer finger and broke them both. My mum didn’t believe that my fingers were broken until the next day, when my fingers were black. To this day I can no longer bend my fingers as far as the top of my palm. It was terrifying at the time.

At Liddiard Road Primary School I am in year 6. Next year I’ll be looking forward to being an excellent year 7 student at Traralgon College. This year I tried out for the Like Minds program and amazingly made it in, along with 3 other people from my school. The Like Minds program is a class where the students are expected to have higher expectations than the other students. My favourite subjects at school at the moment are Writing, Maths and Physical education. I like writing because I am great at it and I like writing about different things.

Outside of school I do plenty of things. My top 3 things I do out of school are Golfing, Basketball and Bike Riding. I like golfing because I go with just my dad and his partner and I even beat him sometimes. I remember I versed dad on a par 3 once. I hit the ball with a 6 iron and nearly got a hole in one. Dad always has to hit multiple balls because his first shots are horrible.

My favourite food is apples. I like apples because they come in many different colours and sizes, and they are incredibly juicy. My favourite song currently is Wiggle by Jason Derulo featuring Snoop Dog. I like this song because it is addictive and the lyrics are catchy. My favourite colour is green. I like the colour green because it is the colour of the $100 note. My favourite animal is a monkey. I like monkeys because they are funny and so playful.

When I’m older I want to grow up to be a policeman because I am lowering the risk of people’s lives being endangered. If I can’t make the role of being a police officer in the police force, I would like the chance to join the army. I want to be in the army because you are protecting your country from bad people.

  7. DOYLE RENFREW

My name is Doyle Alexander Renfrew, I am 12 years old and was born in 2002 on the 20th of the 9th. I’m a student at Liddiard Road Primary School in Traralgon.

I was born at the regional hospital in Traralgon. I have moved to a different house which was wonderful. My old house was at 5 Camron St. I have three brothers and two sisters live one of my brothers have moved to Warragul and the rest live at home. One of my sisters in New South Wales and I’m an uncle for my two nephews.

When I was young I swallowed half a penny which is on my dad’s car keys. My dad called 000 and he said “My son swallowed a coin” So they said “They’re on their way” and he hanged up the phone. When the ambulance were getting there, my dad put me on his knee and kept on patting me on the back, then the coin came out of my mouth.

I’m currently in year 6 at Liddiard Road Primary School and moving to Traralgon Secondary School next year which will be fun because I have been selected in like minds. My favourite subject is maths because I’m good at it and I like when I can get challenged.

Outside of school I play football for Police Boys JFC during the winter which can be fun, but also boring sometimes like if the ball doesn’t come down the field or furious if I miss a goal. I’m happy when I tackle other players and get a free kick. During the hot summer time I like to relax or go out and hang out with friends or play the Xbox 360.

My favourite food and drink is from Hungry Jacks because the frozen cokes or mixed drinks only cost a dollar. I like the taste of the frozen coke, watermelon and bubble-gum. They also make different sizes and love the taste of burgers. There are types of burgers and could survive on them.

I want to work at K-Mart during the end of TC so I can buy a car. I want to go to trad school, to become a plumber, or do something else. I’ll just go with the flow. My plan B is to join the Army/Navy/Air Force.
