This week we started to tell the time on analogue clocks. We learnt that:

– when the big hand is pointing to the 12 it is o’clock

– when the big hand points to the 3 it is quarter past the hour (15 mins past)

– when the big hand points to the 6 it is half past the hour (30 mins past)

– when the big hand points to the 9 it is quarter to the next hour (15 mins to)

We also learnt the little hand points to the hours and slowly moves from one number to the next number throughout an hour.

For homework this week you will look at the four clocks below and write down what time you think it is and also explain why you think that is the time.

5:00 the big hand is at the 12 and the little hand is at 5
7:15 the min hand is at 3 and hour just past 7
3:30 the min hand is at the 6 and hour at 3 but the little hand is directly at 3 witch is incorrect.
12:45 the min hand is at the 9 and the minute is almost at 12

A=5:00- I know its 5:00 because the big hand is on the 12 and the little hand is on the 5.

B=7:15- I know it is 7:15 because the big hand is on the 3 and when it is on the 3 it is 15 minutes past something what the little hand is pointing at, which in this case is at the 7.

C=3:30- I know it is 3:30 because when the big hand is on the 6 it means it is half past what the little hand is pointing at.

D=11:45/Quarter two 12-I know it is 11:45 because when the big hand is on the 9 it is something 45 since it hasn’t got to the 12 yet and 11:00 had just been, it is 11:45

A: 5:00- I know it’s 5:00 because the big hand is on the 12 and the little hand is on the 5.
B: 7:15 I know it’s 7:15 because the big hand is on the 3 and the little hand is pointing at the 7.
C: 3:30 I know it’s 3:30 because when the big hand is on 6 and the little hand is inbertween the 3 and the 4.
D: 11:45 Quater tow 12-1 I know it’s 11:45 because the big hand is pointing to the 9 and the little hand is pointing inbertween the 7 and the 8 so it is 11:45.

A=5:00 The minute hand is on the 12 and the hour hand on the 5
B=7:15 The minute hand is on the 3 and the hour hand is on the 7
C=3:30 The minute hand is on the 6 and the hour hand is on the 3
D=11:45 The minute hand is on the 9 and the hour hand is on the 12

If the big hand is on the number 12 whatever the hour hand is on is always going to be The hour then O’Clock

B = 7.15

The number 3 on the clock resembles 15 minutes has hit. So if you know that then you look at the hour hand (For this it is on the seven) It was be 7.15

C = 3.30

The 6 on the clock resembles 30 minutes has hit. So same with the 7.15 but this time it was be 3.30 as you would look at the hour hand.

D = 11.45

This is because the number 9 on the clock resembles the 45 minutes. And because the hour hand (small hand) is in between the 11 to 12 it would be 11.14

A= 5.00 or 5 o’clock because the big hand is pointing at the 12 and the little hand is pointing at the 5.
B= 7.15 or a quarter past seven because the big hand is pointing on the 3 and the little is on the seven.
C= 3.30 or half past 3 because the big hand is on the 6 and the little hand is on the 3.
D= 11.45 or a quarter of an hour to 12 because the big hand is pointing to the 9 and the little hand was nearly on the 12

For homework this week you will look at the four clocks below and write down what time you think it is and also explain why you think that is the time.

5:00 – because the big hand is on the 12 which means o’clock and the little hand is on the 5.
7:15 – the hour hand is on the 7, the big hand is on the 3 which means 15 minutes past 7.
3:30 – the hour hand is on the 3, and the bigger hand is on the 6 which means 30 minutes past 3.
11:45 – the hour hand is in the middle bit a bit closer to the 12 and the minute hand is on the 9 which means 45 minutes past 11.

A) 5:00, if the minute hand is pointing to the 12 that means it’s o’clock and if the hour hand is pointing to the 5 that means it’s 5:00.

B) 7:15, if the minute hand is pointing to the 3 that means it’s 15 minutes past something and if the hour hand is pointing to the 7 that means it’s 7:15.

C) 3:30, if the minute hand is pointing to the 6 that means it’s something 30 and if the hour hand is pointing to the 3 that means it’s 3:30.

D) 11:15, if the minute hand is pointing to the 9 that means it’s quarter to something and if the hour hand is pointing to the 11 that means it’s 11:15.

A= 5 o’clock

B= 3 past 7

C=1\2 past 3

D= 9 to 12

The hour hand is almost at the 12

a= 5:00/five o’clock

b=7:15/quarter past seven

c=3:30/half past two

d=11:45/quarter to twelve

e=the time is 3:46, and I know that because that is the time on our clock

A=5:00 B= 1/4 past=7 C = 1/2 past 3 D= 1/4 to 11

Answers:

A: 05:00

B: 07:15

C: 03:30

D: 11:45

A: 5:00- I know it’s 5:00 because the big hand is on the 12 and the little hand is on the 5.

B: 7:15 I know it’s 7:15 because the big hand is on the 3 and the little hand is pointing at the 7.

C: 3:30 I know it’s 3:30 because when the big hand is on 6 and the little hand is inbertween the 3 and the 4.

D: 11:45 Quater tow 12-1 I know it’s 11:45 because the big hand is pointing to the 9 and the little hand is pointing inbertween the 7 and the 8 so it is 11:45.

he first one is 5 o’clock because the minute hand Ponting to the 12 and the hour hand is Ponting to the 5 and that means it’s 5 o’clock.

I think the second one is 4:15 because the minute hand is Ponting to the 3 and the hour hand is 20 minutes before the 3.

The there’d one is 2:15 because the hour hand is 15 minutes before the 12 and the minute hand is 2 minutes after the hour hand.

I think the forth one is 11:45 because the minute hand is one the nine and the hour hand is inbatween the 12

A:5:00/five o’clock

B:7:15/Quarter past seven

C:3:30/half past two

A= 5.00 or 5 o’clock because the big hand is pointing at the 12 and the little hand is pointing at the 5.

B= 7.15 or a quarter past seven because the big hand is pointing on the 3 and the little is on the seven.

C= 3.30 or half past 3 because the big hand is on the 6 and the little hand is on the 3.

D= 11.45 or a quarter of an hour to 12 because the big hand is pointing to the 9 and the little hand was nearly on the 12

A=5:00- I know its 5:00 because the big hand is on the 12 and the little hand is on the 5.

a= 5:00

b= 7:15

c= 3:30

d= 11:45

number 1 is 5:00

number 2 7:15

number 3 is 3:30

number 4 is quarter to twelve

A= 5 O’clock because the big hand is on the 12 and the other hand is on 5.

B= 7:15 because the big hand is on the 3 which means 15 past and the small hand is on the 7

C= It is a trick time it’s ment to be 3:30 but the small hand is not half way past the 3

D= 11:45/ 15 to 12 because the big hand is on the 9 and small is almost on the 12

A:5:00/five o’clock

B:7:15/Quarter past seven
